Hello and welcome to FAME clinic in Karatu!

Karatu is a small village on the border of the Ngorogoro crater.  It sits in the beautifully lush Rift Valley.  On our way from Arusha, we saw giraffes and zebras!

Internet access is very spotty here - usually works better in the mornings and then is completely absent at night.  Being disconnected is a unique experience.  You don't realize how reliant you are on the internet until its gone.  Think about it - how often do you find yourself looking up something or texting someone.  Pretty frequently right?  Now imagine all that gone - no internet, no TV but instead this beautiful sunrise...

It's amazing.  Really makes you stop and appreciate the world around you.  Instead of surfing the web, we took a jog through the valley, ate a hearty dinner or potatoes, carrots and fruit while watching the sunrise and then read ourselves to sleep.  A very peaceful evening overall.  More on patients when we visit the Rift Valley Children's Village tomorrow!  See ya then!
